Inconclusive end to Lebanese meeting in France
Jul 15, 2007, 18:00 GMT
Paris - Rival Lebanese factions ended a one-and-a-half day meeting in the French capital without reaching any resolution Sunday, according to French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.
The atmosphere at the meeting had initially been tense, but had changed to a more amicable one by the end of the meeting, Kouchner said.
Kouchner plans to travel to Beirut on July 28 to continue the talks.
Jewish organizations had criticized the presence of the radical Islamic Hezbollah movement at the conference, calling them a terrorist organization.
Hezbollah agreed to take part in the conference despite being branded a 'terrorist' organization by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
The groups had gathered Saturday in a castle outside Paris at Kouchner's invitation in an attempt to resolve the long-standing civil conflict in Lebanon.
