Syria reopens border crossings with Lebanon
Sep 17, 2007, 15:09 GMT
Damascus - Syria announced Monday it would reopen two crossings on its border with Lebanon that were closed three months ago, a Lebanese member of parliament said.
Speaking to journalists after meetings with Syrian officials, the Lebanese member of parliament, Wajih al-Barini, quoted Syria's Vice-President Faruk al-Sharaa as saying Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had ordered the immediate reopening of the crossings of al-Dabusiya and al-Arida.
Syria closed three border crossings into Lebanon last June after the Lebanese army launched its military offensive against militants from the radical Islamist group, Fatah al-Islam, in the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp.
Syria already reopened the crossing of al-Qa in July.
