Israeli planes violate Lebanese airspace, causing panic

Sep 18, 2007, 16:57 GMT

Beirut - Israeli warplanes swooped low over southern Lebanon in defiance of a United Nations ceasefire resolution, Lebanese police said Tuesday.

Six aircraft violated Lebanese airspace throughout Tuesday by swooping low over the port cities of Sidon and Tyre, causing sonic booms as well as panic among residents, police said.

The planes also flew over the Bint Jbeil region, a stronghold of the militant Hezbollah group, they said.

Israeli warplanes have been violating Lebanese airspace on a near- daily basis in the past two weeks, but on Tuesday the aircraft were seen flying lower than usual.

Israel has drawn intense international criticism by continuing overflights after UN Resolution 1701 was adopted and a ceasefire was implemented on August 14, 2006, ending 33-days of Israeli war against Hezbollah.

The UN says such overflights undermine the credibility of UN peacekeepers who are monitoring a fragile ceasefire in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah can't complain about ceasfire agreements when part of that agreement was the release of kidnaped Israeli soldiers.

I any other circumstance this would be classed as an act of war, how dare this illigitimate occupation force fly over Syrian and Lebanese air space, how long do these people have to suffer the terrorism of the US backed Occupation force. They will never have a place in a civilised world.

SOHRAB,

In any other circumstances, in any other place in the world, the daily rocket attacks would have resulted in much greated military response.

If you don't want to be occupied then make peace not war, if you make war and lose (as the Arab states did vs Israel) you (the loser) must make concessions for peace, so let the Arabs make the concessions for their belligerance and peace will ensue.

That war was a long time ago and the staus quo of the region is changed, a handfull of Hezbullah stopped the modern army that the American people paid for. Israel will suffer so much more than it ever did before in the next war, and that is the only negotiation with this most uncivilised country.

War is only over when both sides make peace.

Time to “occupy” jew air space with missiles from Naz or even better the big one courtesy of Iran which will reduce jewland to no more than a black, smoldering hole.

This is the sole reason that there is no peace. Because US and its poodles are not serious and they follow double standard. Double standard or No double standard, US and western powers are on the decline and thats why they are biting there fingers to regain the lost glodry. But alas, it is not coming back. I am just waiting for the day when iran declares itself possessing a nuke (though it never will reveal that it has nukes and use the nuke as a surprise weapon on isreal in case USA/Isreal or its poodles made a mistake of attacking it). Then there will be eternal peace.
