Oct 18, 2007, 18:48 GMT
Washington - Saddam Hussein henchman 'Chemical Ali,' who oversaw the regime's gas attack that killed thousands of Kurds in 1987, will be executed in the 'coming days,' the Iraqi government spokesman said.
Chemical Ali, a cousin of Saddam whose real name is Ali Hassan al- Majid, was convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to die in June. His punishment was upheld by an appeals court in September.
Ali al-Dabbagh, the Iraqi government spokesman making an unusual appearance at the White House, was asked if Chemical Ali would soon be taken to the gallows.
'Yes, in the coming days the execution will come,' Al-Dabbagh said.
