US differs with UN nuclear chief on Iran

Oct 29, 2007, 15:39 GMT

Washington - The White House insisted Monday that Iran wants to build nuclear weapons, even though the head of the UN watchdog agency said he has 'no concrete evidence' of a weapons programme.

'This is a country that is enriching and reprocessing uranium, and the reason that one does that is to lead towards a nuclear weapon,' US President George W Bush's spokeswoman Dana Perino said of Iran.

She was responding to remarks by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who said diplomacy should be given time to resolve US-led concerns about Iran's nuclear activities and questioned the effectiveness of sanctions against Iran.

IAEA officials 'haven't seen any concrete evidence' that Iran is already building nuclear arms, Mohammed ElBaradei said.

'We haven't received any information there is a parallel ongoing active nuclear weapon programme,' he told broadcaster Cable News Network (CNN) Sunday.

In a sign of impatience with UN Security Council action against Iran, the United States last week slapped sanctions on an elite Iranian military unit and banks suspected of backing terrorism and the development of nuclear weapons.

Bush has also stepped up US rhetoric against Iran, warning on October 17 that Iran's obtaining 'the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon' could lead to World War III.

'I think everybody agrees that sanctions alone will not lead to a durable solution,' ElBaradei said.

He called for direct US-Iranian talks to resolve the dispute, which the Bush administration calls the world's top security challenge.

'So there is a concern, but there is also time to clarify these concerns,' ElBaradei said.

The US accuses Iran of secretly seeking nuclear arms. Iran says its enrichment activities are aimed only at building nuclear power plants.

Well, I got news for you. Canada enriches and reprocesses uranium, and has no nuclear weapons. Been doing this for over forty years.

Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, and many other countries have this ability. And have not produced a nuclear bomb.

During the Nixon/Ford years, the U.S. had everything lined up for the Shah of Iran to build nuclear reactors. He was a muslim as well. But he was 'their muslim'.

This is going to end badly.

They just want a war to cripple Iran, any pretext will do for them. That is why the stakes have been raised, and yes, this will end very badly.

Iranians believe that any action after agression against it will be justified, in this world or the world after.

I took a 3' x 5' US-flag with me from the US in 2004. I soon will drag this flag, after I pissed on it, behind my car through a European capital, if these American swines are indeed doing another 'Iraq' on Iran. The population and the U.S. Congress are despicably ignorant in not hindering this mad administration committing one war crime after another.

What a disgusting nation it is, to allow two lunatics that much elbow room with 30,000 nukes behind them. The Pentagon thugs are no different.

If Washington, D.C. would be leveled tomorrow, I'd chill the champagne to celebrate.

No more sympathy or empathy for the Unscrupulous States of America.
Down, down, down with this shameful USA. The USA are the real Evil Empire.

You have repeatedly posted your neo-nazi garbage all over this website under different persona, sorry there will not be the second holocaust that you yearn for.

Roger, there is no such thing as collective guilt .So your statements against the USA are silly .Learn to make the difference between Bush and the 75 percent of americans that oppose him ?Which is actually a pretty high figure considering the brainwash they receive from FOX network .Who controls the media in the USA,do you think ?Suppose for a split second that the democrats would cut the war funding ,what do you think would happen in the media ?You'd see Rush LiImbaugh and the whole neocon think tank industry ,Fox network and screaming that the democrats are traitors 'putting our boys in harm's way ' ,etc, etc.AS long as FOX has the media in it's grip the congress is useless .Now the americans are asked to believe that a country with the military and economical power of Finland, without nukes, nor missiles is out to bomb them in the near future ?Does this sound plausible ?Yet in the USA its is spoon fed via FOX to all ,and a lot of people are buying it.It's called paranoia.

They are savages as well.

' I forgot Laura Bush just went over there.'

She shouldn't, but unlike with the iranians, the Saudis don't kidnap people so she was able to get in and out.

'So it is probably not relevant .'

Much like you.

Ditto Iraq all over again.

Much of what Bush and Co are saying now was also said before the attack on Iraq and we found out after the invasion that there was no WMD. Again Bush is using the self same argument with the only exception being he isn't using the identical words 'weapons of mass destruction'.

On that occasion he differed with the weapons inspectors and now he differs with the head of the atomic energy association Mr el Baradei. If the american people are so stupid to follow Bush into another war based on lies and deceit; with the real intention of exerting total control over the middle east and its oil, they (the american people) will suffer the entire wrath of the rest of the us.

Those american people who believe that the US cannot be called to account for all the war crimes it has committed in the name of spreading democracy or fighting terrorism are sadly mistaken and I urge them to be cognizant of this very important prediction that I am about to make.

THE DAYS OF AMERICA'S HEGEMONY ARE NUMBERED.

And?... You mentioned that before. Because some complete loser goes out, spends his welfare check on a flag and then trashes it we are supposed to lose sleep or something? Look, moron, we do not care abut you, your opinion of us or what you want or do not want us to do. Spend ALL your money on flags and burn them. You just do not count until we need something. Then you can bet that you will be made to do it.

Amen to that!
The world's reserve currency is rapidly losing its importance and its weight, dropping like a stone vs. other important currencies. Gold and the euro (€) are the name of the game these days and European gas prices do not show any rise at the pump, further supporting the idea that, as the dollar drops in value, resource prices are adjusting in step.

THE EMPIRE IS WANING INDEED, AN ATTACK OF IRAN WILL BE THE PUSHOVER POINT.

One day, American patriots may gather the necessary courage to collect and bring to trial all those in the present administration who, through their crimes, helped bring forth the process of such magnificent decay.

Within 20 years, only two decades, two evil empires will have imploded. The USSR did it peacefully, now watch the hateful violence, with which the US empire will end ... itself.
