Israeli defence minister to meet Mubarak amid row over smuggling
Dec 26, 2007, 6:20 GMT
Tel Aviv - Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak was set Wednesday to meet Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak amid heightened tensions between the two countries over Israeli criticism of Egyptian efforts to thwart arms smuggling into the Gaza Strip.
Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman and Defence Minister Hussein Tantawi were also to participate in the meeting at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Israeli media reports Wednesday morning speculated that comments earlier this week by Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni that Egypt was doing a 'terrible job' preventing Gaza militants from smuggling weapons into the strip would likely feature high on the agenda of the talks.
Cairo was also said to be upset that Israel gave the United States a tape purportedly showing Egyptian soldiers doing nothing while smugglers operated nearby.
Egypt has rejected Livni's criticism.

The only peaceful means Arabs have in stopping unfair and one-sided help the U.S and some European Nations give Israel is an oil embargo directed at nations who aid Israel’s savagery and terror on its neighbors, believe me hit them in the pocket and you will get their full attention, they would have to explain to their public why they are supporting a terrorist state like Israel.
