Five killed, one wounded, five al-Qaeda suspects detained in Iraq

Baghdad - At least five people were killed and one wounded in separate incidents in Iraq, while five suspected members of the al-Qaeda terrorist network were detained, media reports said Saturday.
In Baquba, some 60 kilometres north of Baghdad, joint US-Iraqi forces killed three al-Qaeda militants during military operations Friday, the Iraqi news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI) said.
One civilian was killed and another injured when an explosive device went off near the same city.
In another development, militants killed a tribal sheikh of the Sadrist movement in the late hours of Friday, in the southern city of al-Najaf, VOI said.
In northern Kirkuk, joint US-Iraqi forces detained five al-Qaeda suspects during a military operation in the early hours of Saturday.
