Iranian foreign minister arrives in Damascus

Damascus - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrived in Damascus on Saturday to hold talks on improving bilateral relations and regional issues, Syrian officials said.
Mottaki was welcomed by his counterpart Walid al-Muallem on his arrival.
Syrian officials told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that Mottaki will be meeting with Syrian President Bashaar al-Asad on Sunday. However, Iranian officials told dpa that Mottaki would be leaving Damascus on Saturday night.
Sources said Mottaki will meet with the Damascus-based Palestinian leaders and representatives of the Shiite opposition group, Hezbollah.
