Hamas: Palestinian state on 1967 land but no recognition of Israel

Damascus - The Syrian-based leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Khaled Mashaal, said Monday he would accept a Palestinian state on land seized by the Israelis in the 1967 war without recognizing the Jewish state. The Damascus-based leader also offered a 10-year truce if Israel withdraws to the pre-1967 war border. Speaking at a news conference, Mashaal said he made the offer to former US President Jimmy Carter during talks on Saturday. Carter proposed a unilateral ceasefire by Hamas for 30 days as a gesture that might encourage Israel to halt its operations in the Gaza Strip. But Hamas rejected the proposal. 'We want to protect our people and end the aggression and siege [by Israel]. Those are now our main goals,' Mashaal said, adding that other options were being discussed with the Egyptians. Speaking about the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit held prisoner by Hamas, Mashaal said the soldier would be freed and handed over to Egypt if Israel released 71 Palestinian prisoners as well as children, women, ministers and lawmakers. The Hamas leader rejected direct talks with Israel, saying his group would negotiate through Egypt. Any settlement between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert would have to be put to a national referendum or be accepted by a newly elected Palestinian parliament, Mashaal said.

You are the typical of Jews and supporters who live in the US under a democratic gov't. with a diverse population and laws that cover all, but still support the apartheid, racist, terrorist, State of Israel's land stealing and enslavement and genocide of the Palestinian people for their land.
