Iran tells Obama not to flatter Israel with unrealistic charges
Jun 5, 2008, 18:46 GMT
Tehran - Iran on Thursday told Democratic presidential Barack Obama not to flatter Israel with unrealistic charges against Iran and its nuclear projects.
'Iran is committed to all internationally acknowledged principles, including the United Nations charter, and considering Iran and its peaceful nuclear programmes as a threat is a one-sided and unrealistic approach,' Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said in a press statement.
Obama on Wednesday told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that there was 'no greater threat' to Israel than Iran, and he threatened consequences if Iran refused to stop nuclear development, stop supporting terrorism in the region and above all, stop threatening Israel.
'We regret such opportunistic approaches (by Obama) which are contrary to his campaign claims to confront political lobbies in the US,' the spokesman said.
'We further believe that the US presidential candidate should not be affected by the mania of the Zionist (Israeli) regime,' Hosseini added referring to Israeli - and Western - concern that Iran could pursue a secret nuclear weapon programme aimed at attacking Israel.
The spokesman reiterated in his statement that the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear projects was acknowledged by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and therefore totally undeniable.

For Obama to threaten anyone with 'consequences' is total garbage.
If Obama were to actually take any meaningful action, all his lefty supporters would throw a mass hissy fit that would never end. The national security of the USA is not part of the agenda of said lefty supporters.
Moreover, a President Obama would never impose any meaningful consequences because he is a coward and a pussy.
Obama, you are a pussy. A vote for Obama is a vote for a pussy!
You have absolutely no idea whatsoever about international relations. Iran is not telling Obama what to do. It is advice to not be an Israeli lap-dog like Bush, to think for himself and to look at the facts and not Israeli propaganda. You call Obama a pussy 3 times. You're an idiot. And I don't need to say it more than once.
...aren't they?
One thing for certain, no one ever bothered to tell Bush what to do...
