Iranian missiles have longer range than 2,000 km, general says

Tehran - Iran's Shahab-3 missiles have a longer range than 2,000 kilometres, an Iranian general said Monday.
Deputy Defence Minister General Nosratollah Ezati told Fars news agency that the recently tested Shahab-3 missiles have a range of over 2,000 km and a higher degree of accuracy.
The new version of the Shahab-3 missiles tested last week during war games by the Revolutionary Guards were previously believed to have a maximum range of 2,000 km.
The general added that the Shahab-3 missiles were 100-per-cent manufactured by local experts and there was therefore no limit for their mass production.
The Revolutionary Guards test-fired several missiles last week, including the Shahab-3 missiles which are capable of targeting any part of Israeli territory.
Iranian officials have said that the missile tests were made in reaction to recent threats by the United States and Israel to attack Iranian nuclear sites after Tehran once again defied the world powers' demand that it suspend uranium enrichment.
