Jul 23, 2008, 10:43 GMT
Ramallah - US Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama arrived in the central West Bank city of Ramallah Wednesday for a brief parley with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Obama, who made the short journey from Jerusalem in an American consulate motorcade, was received by Abbas, as well as Acting Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, senior negotiator Saeb Erekat and other Palestinians officials.
His packed schedule for his one-day visit, which includes meetings with Israeli leaders in the morning and evening, however left no time for lunch or statements to the media.
Palestinian security officers were seen standing on rooftops at Abbas' Muqata'a headquarters, securing the parley.
