Tehran - Iran on Saturday called on an immediate stop of military conflicts in South Ossetia, official news agency IRNA reported.
'Iran is highly concerned about the crisis in South Ossetia which have so far led to the killing of innocent people and calls for an immediate stop of the conflicts and dispatch of relief aid teams for the local people,' Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi said in a statement carried by IRNA.
While calling on the involved sides to show restraint and settle the crisis through constructive negotiations, the spokesman warned that continuation of the military conflicts could have negative impacts on the whole Caucasus region.
Ghashghavi further declared Iran's readiness to render whatever help needed to settle the crisis.
