Bomb explodes in northern Lebanon (Extra)
Oct 8, 2008, 20:52 GMT
Beirut - A bomb exploded late Wednesday in the northern port city of Tripoli, local media reported.
According to initial reports, there were no injuries, only property damage.
Tripoli has been the target of a series of explosions, most recently on September 29, when a bomb exploded in a bus killing at least four people, including three Lebanese soldiers, and wounding 30, including civilians.
Observers believe that the explosions targeting Tripoli are aimed at derailing confidence in the government and army just as Lebanon's squabbling religious communities have begun to come together to ease tensions on the streets ahead of critical elections next spring.
