Militant Palestinians continue rocket fire on Israel (1st Lead)

Nov 16, 2008, 7:42 GMT

Tel Aviv/Gaza City - Israel killed four Palestinian militants in an airstrike near Gaza City Sunday morning, hours after Palestinians launched rockets at Israeli border towns.

A military spokesman in Tel Aviv said the Air Force had targeted a group on their way to launch more rockets. The four belonged to the Popular Resistance Committees, a radical group loyal to the Islamist Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak also ordered the crossings into the Gaza Strip kept shut, preventing goods from entering the salient, in response to the continuing rocket fire.

Two rockets launched Sunday morning landed near the village of Nir Oz, an Israeli military spokesman said. There were no reports of damage or injuries.

Israel has threatened to launch a ground offensive in the strip if the rocket fire continues, and on Sunday morning, Israel Radio quoted Defence Minister Ehud Barak as saying that the situation in the border area was 'intolerable' and could not continue.

The security forces were standing ready for a strong and painful operation on the other side of the border, he said in a speech Saturday evening.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who is currently in the United States, said Saturday that Israel would intensify its response if the attacks resulted in any victims.

The five-month ceasefire between Israel and militant Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has become increasingly fragile in recent days.

The Israeli army says it has killed 10 Palestinians in operations in the past week, while militant Palestinians have fired over 100 rockets on Israel.

Hamas, which took control of the Gaza Strip in June last year, threatened to carry out more attacks Saturday.

Peace will come to the Middle East.

Peace ? Never !Nov 16th, 2008 - 09:18:42

The Palestinians do not seek peace or indeed any resolution. If they did, it would have happened long ago.

The agenda of their movers and shakers, largely supported throughout the Arab world, is to maintain conflict at the highest level as a focus for all Islam - to demonstrate that the 'West' may may be blamed for all Islam's own problems - and to ensure that the inspiring torch of hostility remains alight.

To sue for 'peace' in the Middle East is to merely provide fuel for the Islamic blame game. The only truth is the declared and obvious one, that Islam wants all Israel dead.

if the palistinians stopped the rockets,
the israeli airforce would not have to waste money and time firing back.
thats the simple truth.
but, the palistinians say they fire rockets becoz the israeli airforce shoots at them.
they also dont say why they fire their rockets at israeli civilians
so it's clear to see whats going on here.
lies, and games.
these people called the palistinians are hostages under a so called flag, by a so called thug leadership, who have a secret agenda.
they steal as much money as they can, while they use these people for a so called cause.
there will never be a palistine, there will never be peace and this will go on forever.
if the palistinians were smart, they would set up factories to manufacture clothing, grow food, open hotels, resorts and casinos, build up a tourist trade and get to work.
Instead, they just dont get it.
they steal and squander whatever money they get from the E.U and the little they get from arab countries, on shooting rockets, and promoting the misery of their lives.
smart people.

You say:
'israel ... loves to kill palesinians as well as the rest of the arabs '
But
Since Arabs love to be martyrs - then everyone is happy ?

It's funny how when Israel breaks a truce agreement and Palestinians act after, that they are the militants / terrorists. Lets not mention that it's Israel who started it.

Only in Israel can the agressor be seen as the victim. Sorry, Israel you started this round (once again) and now reep the damages and deaths that come with it.

You want to live in peace without being afraid to go outside, guess what, so do the Palestinians.
