Tens of thousands demonstrate in Spain against Israeli offensive
Jan 11, 2009, 14:16 GMT
Madrid - Tens of thousands of people demonstrated Sunday in various Spanish cities to protest against the Israeli military incursion in the Gaza Strip.
In Madrid, some 10,000 people took part in a demo called by several leftist and union groups, according to the state-run RNE broadcaster.
Anti-Israel demonstrations were also reported in Seville, Malaga, Oviedo and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Sunday's protests follow on the mass demonstration staged Saturday in Barcelona, where between 30,000 people - by police accounts - and 100,000 people by the organisers' accounts took to the streets. The demo was organised by an alliance of groups which in the past had organised mass protests against the US-led invasion of Iraq.
