UN Human Rights Council condemns Israeli offensive in Gaza Strip

Geneva - The United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday in a special session condemned the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire and promising to send an international investigative commission to the region.
The resolution passed with 33 votes for and one vote against, with 13 abstentions.
The 9th special session of the 47-member committee started on Friday and was brought about at the behest of Muslim and African states. European states were among those abstaining.
