US army: US soldier killed in attack in Baghdad

Baghdad- A US soldier was killed in an armed attack in Baghdad, the US army said on Friday. The attack took place Thursday.
'A Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldier died Feb. 26 from combat related injuries while conducting a patrol in Baghdad,' the army statement said.
The death raised the number of US fatalities in February 2009 to 15, and brings the number of US soldiers who have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003 to 4,252.
Meanwhile, a Multinational forces (MNF) convoy was targeted on Friday by a roadside bomb in central Basra.
The attack which took place near al-Fayhaa hospital in central Basra left no casualties, an MNF statement said. An armoured vehicle was damaged, however, the Voices of Iraq cited an MNF spokesman as saying. Basra is 590 kilometres south of Baghdad.
