Police defuses parcel bomb in Lebanon's General Security office
Jun 12, 2009, 14:06 GMT
Beirut - The Lebanese police defused Friday a package which was found inside the General Security headquarters at the musem area in Beirut.
According to a statement by the directorate, the package had listed its contents as compact discs, but it was actually packed with 150 grams of TNT.
The statement added that the explosives were connected to a 'timer set to be detonated, but it did not explode due to a technical fault.'
The Lebanese security authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to know how the parcel was sneaked inside the building, despite the heavy security measures at the headquarters.
