Security officials targeted in Iraq blasts

Baghdad - At least four members of the Iraqi security forces were killed on Thursday in separate blasts across Iraq, two days after US troops officially withdrew from the country's cities.
Two Iraqi army officers were killed in separate attacks by unknown gunmen in Kirkuk and Mosul.
In central Baghdad, one soldier was killed and ten others wounded when an explosive device went off as an army patrol was passing by in al-Karada region, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.
In Faluja, a security official narrowly escaped death when his car exploded, while one of his guards was killed. Eyewitnesses told the German Press Agency dpa that the official got out of the car seconds before it exploded, leaving one of his guards dead and two others injured.
The attacks come two days after the withdrawal of US troops from Iraqi cities, leaving around 130,000 soldiers in Iraq. Many of them will continue to work in Iraqi units.
