Israeli shelling on Gaza kills one girl, wounds 3
Jul 2, 2009, 16:52 GMT
Gaza City - A Palestinian girl was killed and three men injured early on Thursday evening in Israeli artillery fire directed against the Gaza Strip, witnesses and medical sources reported.
The witnesses said that the Israeli shelling had occurred in an area near the border between al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip and Israel.
Security sources said that the Israeli shelling to the area came shortly after Palestinian gunmen targeted an Israeli army unit that had entered the area east of the refugee camp.
Gaza emergency chief Mo'aweya Hassanein told reporters that a 12-year-old girl was killed and three young men were injured when a shell hit a house.
Earlier, an Amnesty International report found that both Israel and Gaza Strip militants, mainly Hamas, were found guilty of committing crimes against civilians.
