One civilian killed, another injured in north Iraq
Jul 7, 2009, 7:33 GMT
Baghdad - One civilian was killed and another was injured on Tuesday in separate incidents in the northern Iraqi city of Baquba, according to security sources.
Sources told the German Press Agency dpa that unknown gunmen shot a man, who was believed to be a member in al-Qaeda, in the Bab al- Darb district of central Baquba. Another man was injured in an explosion in the southern district of al-Katon.
Baquba, the capital of Iraq's ethnically divided province of Diyala, was formerly the site of intense fighting insurgents and US forces. Although violence there has declined in recent years, Baquba has been the scene of several attacks in recent months.
