Cairo - Eight Serbian tourists and three Egyptians were killed on Thursday when a truck collided with a tourist bus near Egypt's Red Sea coast, security and tourism sources said.
At least 10 other tourists and three Egyptians were injured, sources said, adding they were taken to the nearby Hurghada hospital.
The bus was driving from the Red Sea resort of Hurghada and heading to the Upper Egyptian city of Luxor. There were Serbian, German, Czech and Swedish tourists inside the bus when it collided with a truck carrying cement.
Road accidents are common in Egypt because of poor road conditions, speeding and reckless driving. According to government figures, each year some 6,000 people die and 30,000 are injured in traffic accidents in Egypt.
