Israeli video shows explosion site in Lebanon (Extra)
Oct 13, 2009, 19:24 GMT
Tel Aviv - Israel on Tuesday showed a video of the overnight blast which rocked a village east of the Lebanese southern port city of Tyre, wounding one person.
The images show Lebanese militants removing dozens of rockets out of the home after the explosion occurred, army spokeswoman Avital Leibowitz said. The video was shot by an unmanned drone.
The militants removed the rockets from the scene in two trucks before allowing in UN investigators. The video also showed the removal of a particularly large piece of equipment that could be a large rocket or a type of launcher.
The Lebanese army and the United Nations Interim Forces in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) continued Tuesday to investigate the causes of the explosion that wounded Abdel Nasser Issa, a Hezbollah member.
The blast prompted the Israeli army to warn that Hezbollah members were still hiding arms inside their homes in violation of UN Resolution 1701, which ended the 33-day campaign by Israel against Hezbollah forces in Lebanon in July 2006.
Issa had apparently stored a rocket, which dated back to the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel, in the garage of his home in Tayr Felsay. Conflicting reports Monday night said the device exploded as Issa was trying to defuse it.
