Oct 19, 2009, 18:44 GMT
Washington - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki met with US Vice President Joe Biden on Monday ahead of a two-day business conference to promote investment in his country.
During the meeting, Biden urged al-Maliki to complete an election law to ensure Iraqi elections scheduled for later this year are transparent and inclusive, the White House said.
Al-Maliki was also to meet with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday before he participates in the conference that gets underway Tuesday.
The investment conference is a key part of forging cooperation between the two countries to build Iraq's economy.
