Oct 19, 2009, 19:24 GMT
Washington - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki met with US Vice President Joe Biden on Monday ahead of a two-day business conference to promote investment in his country.
During the meeting, Biden urged al-Maliki to complete an election law to ensure Iraqi elections scheduled for later this year are transparent and inclusive, the White House said.
At a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, al- Maliki noted that gaining investors in Iraq was critical to help cover the costs of reconstruction.
The investment conference that gets underway Tuesday is a key part of forging cooperation between the two countries to build Iraq's economy.
