Iran nuclear talks likely to resume next week, say diplomats (Extra)

Geneva - The next round of six-party talks with Iran on that country's nuclear ambitions will likely take place next week, diplomats involved in the negotiations told the German Press Agency dpa Tuesday.
The six parties consist of the United Nations Security Council members plus Germany. The group is trying to ascertain the extent of Iran's nuclear programme and convince it not to try to develop nuclear weapons. Iran claims its programme is peaceful.
Negotiations on the topic Tuesday in Vienna have been held up because Iran has refused to work with France in talks that were planned between Iran, France, the United States and Russia.
Next week's planned meeting will likely take place in Geneva, which hosted the previous two rounds of negotiations, including the most recent talks at the beginning of October.
At the end of the last meeting, European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said that he expected the next round of talks between the parties to take place before the end of the month.
