Sudanese man attempts to hijack Egypt Air flight
Oct 21, 2009, 20:28 GMT
Cairo - A Sudanese man attempted to hijack a flight from Istanbul to Cairo on Wednesday night, a security official from Egypt Air told the German Press Agency dpa.
The man brandished a knife from the airline meal and demanded that the pilot divert the plane to Jerusalem, the official said, speaking on condition on anonymity.
Security officers on the plane managed to subdue the passenger, and the flight landed without incident, a dpa correspondent at the Cairo airport confirmed.
A security officer at the airport said the man had apparently been drinking.
