Oct 27, 2009, 9:04 GMT
Baghdad - An Al-Qaeda-linked group has claimed responsibility for Sunday's deadly blasts which targeted government buildings and killed at least 155 people in Baghdad, said a statement published on Islamic websites on Tuesday.
The statement, which the websites said was posted by the group Islamic State of Iraq on the as-ansar.com website, claimed that Sunday's attacks are the 'second phase in the fight against infidels.'
In August, the same group claimed responsibility for the deadly August attacks which claimed the lives of around 100 people and left 1,200 injured.
The August attacks also targeted government buildings including the foreign ministry.
According to Iraqi officials, both the August and October attacks were carried out in similar fashion.
