Tehran daily banned for printing Baha'i temple picture
Nov 23, 2009, 15:48 GMT
Tehran - The Iranian press watchdog on Monday banned the Tehran daily Hamshahri after it published a photograph of a Baha'i temple in Iran, the official news agency IRNA reported.
Hamshahri, which belongs to the Tehran municipality and has the highest circulation of any Iran daily, printed the picture on its front page on Saturday, describing the temple as one of the main tourist attractions in Iran.
The press watchdog said the photograph was a violation of press law.
Unlike Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism, Bahaism is not recognized or allowed to be practiced in Iran.
