Dec 15, 2009, 12:08 GMT
Beirut - Women in Lebanon are now allowed to open bank accounts for their minor children, a women's rights group said Monday.
The first such account in the history of Lebanon would be opened on Thursday at the headquarters of the Bank of Beirut in the capital, the Union of Progressive Women in Lebanon said in a statement
It comes after an decision by the Association of Banks in Lebanon to allow women to open bank accounts for their children under the age of 18. Previously only men were allowed to do so.
