Six wounded in Israeli shelling on southern Gaza: Medics

Gaza - At least six Palestinians were slightly wounded Saturday morning in Israeli artillery shelling on southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian security sources and medics said.
The sources said that Palestinian militants exchanged fire with Israeli soldiers stationed near the border between the town of Khan Younis southern Gaza Strip and Israel.
The sources added that the clashes erupted after the Israeli forces fired several artillery shells, slightly wounding two militants.
The armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) and al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah said in a joint statement that their militants clashed with Israeli soldiers in the area.
Medics said that four Palestinian civilians were injured early Saturday morning when Israeli attack helicopters opened fire on the al-Farahin neighborhood east of Khan Younis.
The Israeli army has been carrying out short and quick military operations in areas near the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip, saying these operations aim at preventing rocket attacks and the infiltration of militants into Israel.
