Jordan frees 70 Islamists detained after attack on Israel diplomats

Amman - The Jordanian security authorities have released more than 70 Islamists over the past few days after interrogations in connection with a January 14 attack on a convoy of Israeli diplomats, a local press report said Tuesday.
The report by the daily newspaper al-Sabeel, the mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, said that dozens of Islamists who belonged to the Salafi group were still being held by the authorities in the cities of Amman, Salt, Irbid and Zarqa.
The Muslim Salafis seek to stick to the original Islamic teachings of the Prophet Mohammad.
No injuries were reported in the roadside bomb attack, which targeted two cars carrying Israeli diplomats on their way home via the Amman-Dead Sea highway.
