Mar 20, 2010, 17:42 GMT
Ramallah - Israeli soldiers opened fire at Palestinian protesters in the West Bank Saturday killing one and critically wounding another, according to medical sources.
Palestinians confronted Israeli soldiers and settlers in the village of Iraq Burin, near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, who tried to prevent the Palestinians from reaching their farms, reports said.
The soldiers fired at stone-throwing Palestinians, hitting Muhammad Qadous, 16, in the chest and wounding another 20-year-old village resident in the head, said the medical sources at Rafidya hospital in Nablus.
Qadous was pronounced dead at the hospital while the second Palestinian was admitted to hospital in critical condition.
According to witnesses, the soldiers raided the village after Israeli settlers confronted villagers who went to farm their land.
The Palestinians threw rocks at the soldiers who returned fire with live ammunition killing one and wounding another.
