Apr 8, 2010, 15:14 GMT
Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II conferred Thursday with Iraqi Vice President Adel Mehdi on the political wrangling in his country in the wake of the March 7 general elections.
'The talks tackled latest developments in the Iraqi political process, with the monarch congratulating the Iraqi brethren over the success of the polling process,' a royal court statement said.
King Abdullah reiterated Jordan's total support for Iraq, saying the security and stability of the neighbouring country represented a 'cornerstone for the region's stability', the statement added.
From his part, Mehdi expressed Iraq's keenness on expanding ties with Jordan in all spheres.
The Iraqi vice president visited Jordan in the course of a tour of Arab countries to brief their leaders on attempts by major parliamentary blocs to form a coalition government.
