Palestinian Authority concerned over possible expulsions
Apr 11, 2010, 23:07 GMT
Ramallah - The Palestinian Authority on Sunday expressed concern over an alleged Israeli decision to expel thousands of Palestinians who live in the West Bank and are not registered as residents of the territory.
A spokesman for the Palestinian government in the West Bank, Ghassan Al-Khatib, said in a press statement sent to reporters that the decision was 'very dangerous,' adding that the PA 'would oppose that decision by all means.'
The Israeli Haaretz newspaper reported earlier on Sunday that the Israel Army adopted a new decision to deport Palestinians who were born outside the West Bank.
Al-Khatib stressed that the decision 'would violate the Palestinian people's rights in citizenship and living in any part of the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967, including east Jerusalem.'
