Biden meets Egypt's Mubarak to discuss regional developments
Jun 7, 2010, 8:52 GMT
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt - US Vice President Joe Biden meets with Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak on Monday on the first leg of his African tour.
Biden, who will confer with Mubarak in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, was scheduled to visit Egypt in March, but the visit was cancelled after Mubarak went to Germany for gall bladder surgery.
The visit comes a week after Israel's raid on a flotilla trying to bring aid to the Gaza Strip, which left nine dead. Observers say the two men will discuss how the raid might affect the US-backed Israeli- Palestinian indirect talks.
Biden will also visit Kenya, before heading to South Africa to attend Friday's opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup and the US match against England on Saturday.
