One killed as police clash with separatists in southern Yemen
Jun 25, 2010, 12:59 GMT
Sana'a, Yemen - At least one member of the separatist Southern Movement was killed and several others injured in a clash with security forces in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden on Friday, witnesses said.
The firefight erupted after members of the movement started shooting at policemen during a protest in Khour Maksar area of Aden, the largest city in the south, the witnesses said.
Hundreds of people took to the street after the weekly Friday prayers to protest against the arrest of locals over an attack on the intelligence services headquarters in Aden last week.
