Jun 30, 2010, 14:40 GMT
El-Arish - An Egyptian policeman was shot and injured while standing guard at a gate at the country's Sinai peninsula border with Israel, police said on Wednesday.
Rashad Ahmed Rashad, 21 years old, was shot and critically injured at Gate number 70, and has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
Security sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, say they still do not know who shot him.
Smugglers and migrants frequently attempt to infiltrate the border and enter Israel, and are often shot by Egyptian police.
