Jul 10, 2010, 10:18 GMT
Berlin - Iran will close most government operations for at least 48 hours in Tehran and several other provinces due to extreme high temperatures, the official news agency IRNA reported Saturday.
All government organizations, except banks and medical centres, were to close Sunday and Monday in the capital and 20 out of the 30 provinces, IRNA reported.
Schools and universities will also be closed down for the next two days, it said.
Temperatures in several Iranian cities ranged from 40 to 50 degrees centigrade, it said.
