Jordanian king travels to Cairo in bid to spur on Middle East talks

Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II left Amman for Cairo Thursday for talks with Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak on how to push forward the stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, government sources said.
A tripartite summit may end up being held in Cairo involving Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the sources added.
The discussions were expected to focus on the feasibility of shifting from indirect negotiations brokered by the United States to direct talks between the two entities, diplomats said.
The Arab League recently approved a move to direct talks, but left the timing up to Abbas.
