Aug 17, 2010, 18:52 GMT
Tel Aviv - At least one person was injured when shots were fired at the Turkish embassy after a Palestinian barricaded himself inside the building on Tuesday evening, Israeli media reports said.
The reports said the man was seeking political asylum in Turkey.
Israeli radio said the man was a former Israeli collaborator who complained he was no longer wanted by Israel and felt persecuted by Palestinian authorities.
A police spokesman confirmed that several shots were fired and that police were seeking access to the embassy, located in Tel Aviv.
Security in and outside the building was the responsibility of Turkey, the police spokesman said.
