Hezbollah condemns explosion at Iranian military parade
Sep 23, 2010, 18:34 GMT
Beirut- The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah strongly condemned Thursday the previous day's bombing of a military parade in north-western Iran in which at least 12 people were killed.
'It is a terrorist crime that reflects the barbarism and brutality of the forces that are trying to impede the progress of the Iranian people and whose aim is to destabilize Iran,' a statement by the group said.
Most of those killed at the parade in the town of Mahabad were women and children.
Military parades were held throughout Iran on Wednesday to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the start of the 1980-88 war with Iraq, which Iran calls the 'sacred defence.'
Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran financially and militarily, offered its condolences to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the statement added.
