Villagers protest Israeli withdrawal plan (Extra)
Nov 17, 2010, 14:52 GMT
Beirut- Residents of the southern border town of Ghajar have decided to protest the Israeli decision to withdraw from the northern part of the village, Lebanese media reported Wednesday.
Local council spokesperson Najib Khatib said in radio interviews that the entry of UN troops 'into the northern part of the village will be over the corpses of its residents.'
Israel's security cabinet decided Wednesday to unilaterally withdraw Israeli forces from the village, which straddles the border of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Lebanon.
Lebanon has in the past rejected the plan, which would see the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) deploy in the area after the Israeli withdrawal.
