Lebanese Prime Saad Hariri arrives in Tehran
Nov 27, 2010, 12:36 GMT
Tehran - Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a two day visit.
Hariri is scheduled to meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and probably also Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The Lebanese premier said Friday that cooperation with Iran was indispensable for Lebanon and hoped that his visit to Tehran would further strengthen bilateral ties.
Iran supports the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, which however is leading the opposition to Hariri's Western-backed government.
The rift between the two factions has deepened after reports said the United Nations-backed tribunal investigating the 2005 killing of Hariri's father was ready to indict Hezbollah members for the murder.
