Body of murdered US tourist found near Jerusalem
Dec 19, 2010, 8:04 GMT
Tel Aviv - Israeli police found the body of an American tourist near Jerusalem on Sunday morning, hours after she disappeared in what police feared may have been a kidnapping by Palestinian militants.
The murdered woman was found near the city of Beit Shemesh, south-west of Jerusalem, a police spokesman said.
The search was launched after another woman was found bound and stabbed on Saturday. Her assailants had been two Arab men, she said.
It was still unclear Sunday morning whether the assault on the women was carried out for criminal motives, or whether it was the work of Palestinian militants.
Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the investigation was proceeding 'in all directions.'
