One policeman killed, three injured in Iraq attack (Roundup)

Baghdad - One policeman was killed and three injured when gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in Iraq on Sunday, police sources said.
The attack took place in Falluja, the largest city in the western province of Anbar.
In the northern city of Mosul, security forces foiled an attempted attack targeting the head of city council.
Security forces discovered and deactivated explosives planted near the home of Jaber Abdelrabbo, president of Mosul's city council.
Last week, a police commander and three other policemen were killed in two suicide attacks on a police compound in Mosul.
According to the Iraqi Observatory of Rights & Constitutional Freedoms, an independent watchdog body, at least 4,561 people were killed and 12,749 injured in Iraq last year.
