Bruneians evacuated from Egypt arrive home
Feb 2, 2011, 8:39 GMT
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei - Ninety-seven Bruneians evacuated from Egypt arrived back in Brunei Darussalam Wednesday on a specially chartered flight.
Families cried in relief as they saw their loved ones emerge from the arrivals hall.
Nurul Muizzahtul Ain Haj Idris, who was studying Arabic in Egypt, said the experience shook her as she comes from a country where protests are not common.
'There was fire everywhere. You could hear gunshots, people screaming and so on,' the 22-year-old told the German Press Agency dpa.
Bruneians stayed in their embassy in the Egyptian capital before they were flown to Dubai and then on to Brunei Darussalam, sources said.
