Jerusalem - Oscar-wining actress Natalie Portman has lent her talents to a campaign to raise money for a new medical tower at Jerusalem's Hadassah hospital, appearing in two video promotions.
Portman, who last month won Best Actress Oscar for her role in the film Black Swan, was herself born at the hospital.
'It's about healing. It's about compassion. It's about life. It's about you. We're not waiting for the future. We're building it. ' the actress says of the new tower, which is scheduled to be inaugurated next year.
Portman, whose birth name is Natalie Hershlag, was born on June 9, 1981, in Hadassah hospital. Her parents moved to the US when she was still a child, but she still speaks fluent Hebrew.
'Natalie is a nice, modest girl,' Professor Avi Rifkind, head of the hospital's trauma unit, said.
'She has a strong link to Israel,' he told the Yediot Ahronot daily, noting that Portman has helped the hospital for years.
