Apr 7, 2011, 12:04 GMT
Amman - A Jordanian on Thursday set himself alight in front of the prime minister's office in protest the government's failure to scrap his criminal record, witnesses said.
Pedestrians hurried to his aid and doused the flames before he was taken to hospital where doctors said he suffered medium burns.
A spokesman for the Public Security Directorate confirmed that a 45-year-old man 'with criminal record' tried to set fire to himself and was hospitalised. He said authorities were conducting an investigation.
